With our Data Loss Protection Policy in place, you should no longer send any personal information via email without encryption as it could be intercepted in transit. Personal information with respect to this policy includes credit card numbers, bank account numbers, social security numbers, tax identification numbers, and passport numbers.
If you are logged in to your William Carey email account via Outlook or the Outlook Web App (OWA), here is what is new to you:
Outlook:
If you're using encryption for the first time, you'll likely need to connect to the Rights Management Servers. Thankfully, this step is easy. In an email message, choose Options, select Encrypt, and choose "Connect to Rights Management Servers and get templates". Once that is started, you should see a little pop-up from Microsoft Outlook that is retrieving the templates from the server. You've now completed the setup to send an encrypted email.
In an email message, choose Options, select Permission, and pick the encryption that has the restrictions you want to enforce. Choose Encrypt-Only if you are sending information highlighted at the top of this article.
Outlook Web App (OWA):
If you're using the OWA, you have a couple of options here. In a new email message, you'll notice an Encrypt option near the Send and Discard buttons. Choose Encrypt and you'll see the text beneath it in the screenshot provided below.
If you're responding to an email and want to Encrypt your response, click on the ... near the Send and Discard buttons at the bottom of your response. Choose Encrypt and you'll notice some text at the top of your response stating that the message will be sent as an encrypted email.
